  1. What utter rot. It varies by department anyway and this list is so Western biased as to be obscene! Oxford & Cambridge don't have a Dental School for example so how can you rate them. Moreover, if we are so clever why is our infrastructure falling to bits and all companies moving East. Singapore alone outclasses all UK Uni's, because it teaches manners & respect as well as academics.

  2. A lot of these rankings (at least from the US perspective) confuse me. How is Vanderbilt at 80? And how do schools like University of Pitt beat it? UPitt is an amazing school, but I don't think it can beat Vanderbilt. Also, how is Brown University at 50, but U Wisconsin is at around 30? Both are amazing schools (especially Wisconsin CS), but I can't see how Brown places that low and U Wisconsin Madison places that high

  3. Who made this ranking? Surely an American 🤣
ETH is P22, although it is much more well-known than Northwestern University in P21. Look at the individual ratings. All are worse than 21, but overall it gets P21? Hahaha

  4. I mean Cambridge and Oxford are 500 years older than America as a nation, let alone the American unis, they are the best hands down lol

  5. There is no such difference between 100th one and 1st one . The only difference is of only research and much exposure otherwise education pattern is almost same..

  6. There are 27,000 universities in the world. This year Leeds University is ranked at 86 the QS international tables which brings it within the top one third of one percent of world universities.. It is of course a Russell group university. The top 100 employers in the UK (ie The High Flyers' report which is viewable online) ) publish an annual ranking of the 20 universities whose graduates they favour most. In the real world this counts for quite a lot more than the often baffling and sometimes downright bizarre national rankings that appear in publications like the Times and the Guardian (Lancaster and Loughborough universities were consistently placed as top ten universities in the Times national rankings???!!! You have got to be kidding!!!).

For 2022 the High Flyers' list places Leeds at number 5. Cambridge is ranked at number 7 and Oxford is ranked at number 10.

Leeds is the wealthiest city in the north of England with upmarket shops, restaurants and cafes. The university has an embracing and safe feeling campus 10 minutes walk from the thriving city centre. On and around the campus there is some lovely architecture and a buzzing social scene.

Of the UK's 120 universities Leeds falls consistently within the top three for the number of applicants. With an impressive international standing for the quality of its research and a first rate social scene Leeds will always be a serious choice for a great many academically gifted undergraduates and postgraduates.

  7. International Student Olympiads are actually the only objective tool for comparing the competitiveness of university students at the global level. Unlike school education, there is no global student assessment system like PISA, ILSA or PIRLS.

Ranking of universities by number of weighted wins at international student olympiads:

    1. Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (Russia) – 13.40 points

    2. University of Warsaw (Poland) – 12.06

    3. Saint Petersburg State University (Russia) – 10.90

    4. Lomonosov Moscow State University (Russia) – 10.65

    5. ITMO University (Russia) – 9.50

    6. University of Amsterdam (Netherlands) – 9.30

    7. University of Zagreb (Croatia) – 8.90

    8. Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China) – 8.53

    9. Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Ukraine) – 8.50

    10. Jagiellonian University in Krakow (Poland) – 7.46

    11. Novosibirsk State University (Russia) – 6.51

    12. Comenius University Bratislava (Slovakia) – 6.40

    13. National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) (Russia) – 6.20

    14. Charles University (Czech Republic) – 6.10

    15. Ghent University (Belgium) – 6.00

When evaluating the success of students' performance at the Olympiads using a weighted score, not only the number of victories of students and student teams is taken into account, but also the level of competition at each of the Olympiads. The advantage is given to the universities that took part in the Olympiads with the widest country coverage.

The largest Olympiad is the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC). It has the widest geographical coverage, with students from over 100 countries taking part. Over the past 10 years, universities from Russia have won this Olympiad and once won a university from China.

MIPT, 2 times won prizes at the ICPC Programming Olympiad, and at the IMC Mathematical Olympiad for 5 years, its students received 38 awards. St. Petersburg State University, which took third place, has as many as 4 victories on ICPC for 5 years. The runner-up Warsaw University won prizes at ICPC all 5 years in a row. Of the 15 universities represented, only three do not have a single victory at the ICPC: the University of Amsterdam, Novosibirsk State University and Ghent University, however, the number of awards received by their students at the IMC is extremely high.

Universities are the most successful in information technology and mathematics Olympiads, primarily ICPC and IMC: Moscow State University. M. V. Lomonosov, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, St. Petersburg State University (Russia); University of Amsterdam (Netherlands); Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv (Ukraine); Ghent University (Belgium) and Zagreb University (Croatia).

Universities most successful in natural sciences and engineering Olympiads: University of Toronto (Canada); Nanjing University and Xi'an Chiao University National University of Singapore; Georgia Institute of Technology and Washington University in St. Louis (USA); Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain) and University of Liverpool (UK). Students from the University of Singapore have also repeatedly won prizes in various international humanitarian Olympiads, and students from both Chinese universities have won The Mathematical Contest in Modeling Olympiad in mathematical modeling.

The most stable position is occupied by Shanghai Jiaotong University (China), Warsaw University and Jagiellonian University (Poland) – students of these universities have repeatedly won awards both in the field of information technology and at mathematical and natural science Olympiads.

If we consider the victories of students at international Olympiads on a national scale, it turns out that the most successful Olympiad university community in the USA, Germany and the UK – their universities have received awards in all four areas of knowledge over 5 years. Most of the universities in these countries, however, have victories in only one of the considered student Olympiads. The exceptions are Cambridge, Harvard and Pennsylvania universities – students of these universities have won awards at four different Olympiads in 5 years; University of Glasgow, UC Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Colorado at Boulder (winning three different Olympiads) and Yale University, which has won two Olympiads. Students from the universities of Singapore, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Argentina and China became winners and prize-winners of Olympiads in three out of four areas, students from universities in another 18 countries – in two out of four.
